Some of the many highlights along your NSW country steam train adventure include a visit to beautiful Nundle for lunch and a tour of the local Woollen Mill, shops to explore and afternoon tea at historic Wombramurra Homestead. A tour of Taronga Western Plains Zoo is a highlight of your visit to Dubbo. Carcoar a heritage listed town nestled next to the Belubula River, includes a gourmet lunch by Antica Australis. Train station stop at Premer, one of two stations still in existence between Werris Creek and Binnaway. And a tour highlight is dinner at Philip Shaw Winery in Orange, a fitting farewell dinner to this spectacular tour of rural NSW. All aboard!

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Sydney / Maitland / Scone/ Tamworth  Board your heritage train at Sydney Terminal. At Maitland we will disembark and travel to the historic Tocal Homestead for morning tea and a short tour. Lunch is served onboard. Short stop at Scone then travel to Tamworth and transfer to your hotel where you will enjoy dinner tonight.

Day 2

Tamworth / Nundle / Tamworth Travel by coach to Nundle for lunch at the historic Peel Inn. There will be time to visit the famous Nundle Woollen Mill and tour this picturesque town. Enjoy an exclusive visit to Wombamurra Homestead for afternoon tea. Return to Tamworth and the evening at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Tamworth.

Day 3

Tamworth / Werris Creek / Tamworth Rejoin your train and travel to Werris Creek for a short stop to visit the Rail Journeys Museum. Then history will be made as locomotive 5917 heads out on the Binnaway Line for the first time ever. After a short stop at Premer you’ll enjoy lunch at the Binnaway Bowling Club. This afternoon we will be joined by the team from the Black Gate Distillery at Mendooran for onboard tastings and sales, before continuing to Dubbo for the night. Overnight at the hotel in Dubbo.

Day 4

Dubbo / Orange / Wellington / Dubbo Travel by coach to visit the Taronga Western Plains Zoo where you’ll also enjoy lunch before returning to your train for the short journey to Orange via Wellington. Enjoy the evening at your leisure or enjoy dinner at the Philip Shaw Winery. Overnight at the hotel in Dubbo.

Day 5

Dubbo / Carcoar / Dubbo Your morning is free to explore before you transfer to the historic town of Carcoar. Enjoy lunch in the local hall before exploring this delightful historic town. Enjoy the evening at your leisure or enjoy dinner at the Philip Shaw Winery. Overnight at the hotel in Dubbo.

Day 6

Dubbo / Bathurst / Sydney Rejoin your heritage train and travel to Bathurst where you’ll enjoy lunch at the nearby Victoria Hotel. Entry is included into the new Bathurst Rail Museum. Continue to Lithgow where a short stop will be made before you make your mid-evening arrival back into Sydney. A mind full of all scenery with all the sights and sounds of the railway journey you’ve been on!
